on a Long Theme
The book concludes my project Short Stories on a Long Theme that explores feelings of alienation and the human need for connection in contemporary urban life.
The series combines geometric studio still lifes that act as an alphabet, paired with everyday scenes reduced to simple shapes, colours, and forms. Through this visual language, human figures often appear as silhouettes, reflections, or movements. Drawing inspiration from colour theory, the work considers both the harmonies and tensions between primary colours. Using the city as a playground for observation, it zooms in on snippets of life, encouraging us to stop, engage, and see the world through a simple visual language.
There is something calming in translating the complexity of the world around us and freezing it into digestible forms. These images remind us that everything we see can be broken down into shapes, offering an alternative point of connection – one rooted in visual relationships.
